Cling to the Lord with all your might!

Cling to the Lord with all your might! Never, ever let go of the Lord, no matter what. In times of trouble and great distress, read this passage from the Bible:

Psalm 91

You who live in the secret place of Elyon, spend your nights in the shelter of Shaddai,
Saying to Yahweh, ‘My refuge, my fortress, my God in whom I trust!’
He rescues you from the snare of the fowler set on destruction;
He covers you with his pinions, you find shelter under his wings. His constancy is shield and protection.
Hou need not fear the terrors of night, the arrow that flies in the daytime,
The plague that stalks in the darkness, the scourge that wreaks havoc at high noon.
Though a thousand fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, you yourself will remain unscathed.
You have only to keep your eyes open to see how the wicked are repaid,
You who say, ‘Yahweh my refuge!’ and make Elyon your fortress.
No disaster can overtake you, no plague come near your tent;
He has given his angels orders about you to guard you wherever you go.
They will carry you in their arms in case you trip over a stone.
You will walk upon wild beast and adder, you will trample young lions and snakes.
Since he clings to me I rescue him, I raise him high, since he acknowledges my name.
He calls to me and I answer him: in distress I am at his side, I rescue him and bring him honour.
I shall satisfy him with long life, and grant him to see my salvation.’

In Times Like These

The end times are upon us. This can not be denied. Are we prepared?  An answer of , “I hope so,” is not good enough. We cannot gamble with the eternal destiny of our souls. It is with a certain amount of urgency that I write this blog today.

For starters, I am sharing three short prayers that I believe we should arm our family members with, as we start the day.

The Anima Christi (as dictated by Rev. Fr. Levi Burgos)

Soul of Christ, sanctify me

Body of Christ, save me

Blood of Christ, inebriate me

Water from the side of Christ, wash me

Passion of Christ, strengthen me

O good Jesus, hear me

Within Your wounds, hide me

Never let me be separated from You

From the malignant enemy, defend me

At the hour of death, call me

And bid me come to You

That I may praise You

In the company of Your saints

For all eternity, Amen.

Prayer to our Guardian Angel (thanks to my kindergarten teachers)

Angel of God, my guardian dear

To whom God’s love, commits me here

Ever this day, be at my side

To light and guide

To rule and guard, Amen.

Armor of God (excerpt from Linda Schubert’s excellent prayer book, “Miracle Hour”)

I put on God’s armor

to resist the devil’s tactics.

I stand my ground

with truth buckled around my waist

and integrity for a breastplate.

I carry the shield of faith

to put out the burning arrows of the evil one.

I accept salvation from God to be my helmet

and receive the Word of God

from the Spirit to use as a sword.

Amen.

I hope that the reader who decides to recite all three prayers daily, will find comfort knowing that he/she has Divine protection. God bless you!
